M48 PATTON MBT



T48 prototype evaluated by the UK MOD on display at Bovington Tank Museum.

VARIANTS:
M48: Five track return rollers, No tensioning idler. M48A5: A1 & A3 models bought up to M60 standards with 105mm gun.
M48C: Training model only. M67: M7-6 flame gun armed tank based on A1 chassis.
M48A1: Larger drivers hatch and cupola. Five track return rollers, tensioning idler fitted. M67A1: M7A1-6 flame gun armed tank based on A2 chassis.
M48A2: Engine modifications, Stowage basket added, Three track return rollers, revised commanders cupola.. M67A2: M7A1-6 flame gun armed tank based on A3 chassis for USMC.
M48A2C: Improved fire control, No tensioning idler. M48 AVLB: Bridge layer.
M48A3: Diesel engine, Improved fire control, Vehicles have been seen with both three and five track return rollers. Israeli M48: Armed with British 105mm gun.
M48A4: This was to have M60 turrets fitted from M60s that were to be converted to A2 standard.
